Spring Break - 2006
Its that time of year again... when the Rulong's and the Nelsons pack it up and head south to the warm and friendly waters of Gulf Shores Alabama. As usual, home-base is the lovely Beach Club resort.
This year, I'm sad to say, Ian Nelson was not able to join us. He decided to join some friends in sunny Florida. He was missed... especially when it came time to take out the trash! Hey Ian, send us a link to your vacation website, huh?
We left on Friday, March 31. We were planning an 8:30 am (AIS) departure but were delayed roughly an hour when Karen noticed 6 nails in the right front tire of her van. Figured it be a good thing to get that fixed before traveling 750+ miles.
It rained most of the way, finally clearing about the time we hit the Alabama border.
We met John Nelson in Montgomery and, after a long wait filled with John' stories of Alabama life (s'me!), had dinner at the Outback Steak House.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn and had a decent night's rest. The hotel was overbooked and we (all 5 of us) found ourselves in a room with one king-sized bed... and no sleepers available. They were very accomodating and comp'ed us another room for Nick and Dad.
